Young Man Charged In Fatal Police Chase Crash
MONROE (WWJ) - Charges have been filed against a 19-year-old man who led Monroe police on a chase and then crashed, killing a mother as she left a Kroger parking lot.
Austin Hall-Sheedy of Monroe County was charged Wednesday in Monroe's District Court with fleeing and eluding police causing death. He was also charged with robbery in an unrelated incident.
Police said on Tuesday that Hall-Sheedy refused to stop for pursing officers as his pickup truck sped erratically down West Front Street. They followed him for about a mile before he ran a red light and struck 59-year-old Diana Cupp's SUV.
Cupp died at the scene. A female passenger in the pickup was also injured. She was questioned and released.
Hall-Sheedy reportedly had a suspended license.
Bond was set in each count at $500,000. Hall-Sheedy is being held at the Monroe County Jail.
