Wyle Opens New Sterling Heights Sustainment Engineering Facility
EL SEGUNDO, Calif. -- The California-based engineering and testing company Wyle will host an open house and ribbon cutting ceremony for its new office in Sterling Heights at 11 a.m. Monday, May 20 in the Defense Corridor's Center for Collaboration and Synergy.
Wyle's Michigan operations will provide life cycle engineering support for customers at the U.S. Army's Tank Automotive Command; Life Cycle Management Command; and the Tank, Automotive Research, Development and Engineering Center, all located in Warren, Mich.
Representatives of the Army and state and local government officials are expected to attend the open house in the 4,300 square foot center, located near the Detroit Arsenal and Selfridge Air National Guard base.
The building's office and meeting spaces and vehicle housing areas allow Wyle to provide hands-on evaluation of Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected military vehicles that provide service men and women increased protection from hazards in combat zones.
"It is our mission to support our customers in their efforts to give our soldiers and Marines the best equipment possible, so that they can come back home safely," said Valde Garcia, business development manager for sustainment engineering at the Sterling Heights center. Garcia is a retired U.S. Army colonel with 30 years of military experience and a former Michigan state senator.
Added Peter Green, president of Wyle's largest business unit, which will oversee the new location's operations: "Wyle works with the Army in multiple capacities at several locations across the country and overseas. We're very excited to get to be part of this community and have the opportunity to partner with TACOM and TARDEC in carrying out their important missions to support the warfighter."
