WSU Prof Says Hillary Clinton Has Work Cut Out For Her To Win Michigan Voters
DETROIT (WWJ) - Hillary Clinton returns to Detroit Monday to address the Service Employees International Union's convention at Cobo Center.
Wayne State Political Science professor Susan Fino thinks the Democratic front-runner has a battle on her hands in the state where she lost the primary to Bernie Sanders.
"If he is out of the picture," says Fino."I don't see these same people moving in the Trump direction - I see them sitting home. I think it will be critical - she has some serious work she has to do in the so-called rust-belt state - particularly a bell weather state like Michigan - which can go either way."
She believes Clinton's support of Free Trade is losing her the backing of working class white males -- a demographic she believes the candidate needs to win the election.
"She has women locked up, she has immigrants locked up, but when it comes to working and white middle class males in places like Michigan - I think she's got a problem."
This is Clinton's second trip to the state in less than a month.
