WSU Football Player Fatally Shot
DETROIT (WWJ) - A star Wayne State University football player has been shot to death in front of a downtown Detroit nightclub.
Police say Cortez Smith was shot early Friday morning, but didn't release any details about the shooting.
Smith was a standout player for the Warriors: He was named Wayne State's Defense Rookie of the Year during the 2010 season. He was a 2008 graduate of Cass Tech, where he was also an all-city and all-metro football player.
Police say one other person was seriously injured in the shooting.
