WSU Conducts Aspirin Study
Is aspirin a "wonder drug" that can work wonders in people over 70? That's what researchers at Wayne State University are studying.
WSU scientists, along with researchers from across the United States and Australia, are trying to determine whether a small, daily dose of aspirin can help seniors live longer, and live healthier, with fewer memory problems.
Dr. John Flack, head of Internal Medicine at WSU says they are recruiting between 600 and 700 people in Metro Detroit to be part of the five year, international study.
Participants will be randomly assigned to take either low-dose aspirin or a placebo daily.
"This is a chance to be part of medical history, to answer a question that we don't know the answer to," says Dr. Flack.
