2 Killed In Wrong-Way I-75 Crash In Toledo
TOLEDO (WWJ)- There's been another deadly wrong-way crash on I-75 -- the second in two weeks.
The latest wreck happened shortly after 3 a.m. on I-75 near Bancroft Street in Toledo.
Police talking to the Toledo Blade said a Dodge Charger carrying two people from Monroe was traveling north in the southbound lanes and it smashed head-on into a truck. The driver of the car -- 37-year-old Ronnell Richards and his passenger, 37-year-old Khary Phenix -- were pulled from the wreckage.
Both were pronounced dead at local hospital.
The driver of the truck was hurt but police said his injuries did not appear to be life threatening.
I-75 was shut down most of the morning following the crash, but reopened to traffic just before 9 a.m.
It was a little more than two weeks ago that a wrong-way driver on I-75 killed three college students and hurt two others as they were heading to Detroit Metropolitan Airport for a spring break trip.
