Worker, 57, Killed By Excavator At Park Identified
ANN ARBOR (AP) - The identity of a man from Marshall who was killed in a heavy equipment accident while working on a creek restoration project at a park in Ann Arbor has been released.
AnnArbor.com reported Thursday that the victim was 57-year-old Wayne Mead, a foreman with Springport-based Mead Bros. Excavating.
The website says Mead began working for the family owned company when he was 15. The company has a $2.2 million contract for the restoration work on Malletts Creek at County Farm Park.
Washtenaw County sheriff's spokesman Derrick Jackson says the victim was working on foot Tuesday when an excavator's operator apparently didn't see him and backed over him.
