Wooley's Weekly Winners 4-27-12

As another week comes to an end it's time for my Weekly Winners. If Roger Goodell had made his decision on the suspension for the players in the Saints Bounty Scandal I may have had four winners this week, but since he is delaying the announcement till next week (and why wouldn't he with the Draft going on?) Michigan Boosters
Michigan Athletic Director David Brandon made the announcement late last week that because it would cost $400,000 to get the Marching Band to Dallas for the season opener against Alabama, that the University would be leaving the band in Ann Arbor. Well after numerous complaints (myself included), petitions and the story becoming a National issue, the Boosters stepped up to the plate and raised enough money to send the band. Maybe next time Brandon will just do what he should have done in the first place which was pay the bill as the Marching Band is and will always be part of the college football experience.
NHL
As Red Wing fans it's hard to watch the Stanley Cup Playoffs knowing your team has already been knocked out but there have been some exciting series so far, including three of them that went to game seven and two of those going into at least one overtime. I also want to give props to the Washington Capitals who were one of the teams to survive in overtime as they defeated the Boston Bruins, ending the chance that we would have a repeat winner and keeping the Red Wings as the last team to repeat as Stanley Cup Champions.
Calvin Johnson
I have been campaigning for Megatron to grace the cover of Madden 13 since the tournament began and I'm so happy to see him beat Cam Newton in the Finals. I know everyone is up in arms about whether or not it's a curse or not to be on the cover, but as I've said before, CJ will not duplicate or better his stats from last season (96 receptions, 1681 yards, 16 Tds) so now everyone that believes in the curse will have an excuse when his production goes down. Others claim the cover athlete always gets hurt and is never the same. Well explain to me Eddie George, Drew Brees, Ray Lewis and Larry Fitzgerald. Each had a good season with only Lewis suffering a broken wrist—yet he still played in 15 of 16 games. I just don't understand the mindset of some people. Keep telling yourself that if Calvin Johnson gets hurt, it's because he is on the cover of a video game, not because huge men try to destroy him every week.
