Woman's Body Found In Auburn Hills
AUBURN HILLS (WWJ) - Auburn Hills police were called to the scene, Tuesday morning, where a woman's body was found outside an industrial building near I-75.
According to police, an initial investigation revealed that the woman sustained what appeared to be self-inflicted knife wounds to her arms
A knife was found nearby the body, outside of Industrial Experimental Technologies Corp. on Lapeer Road.
Auburn Hills Police Lt. Ryan Gagnon said employees arriving to work around 6 a.m. made the grim discovery.
"As they pulled up, they found a woman laying on her stomach on the ground near the parking lot. They immediately went over to check her and it was obvious that she was deceased," he said.
"It appears she didn't work at the business where she was located," Gagnon said. "But, that's what we're trying to determine, whether or not if she works in the area, who is she, number one, and what brought her here and how did she die."
Police said the woman was 48-years-old but did not release her name or home town. An autopsy is being conducted by the Oakland County Medical Examiner's Office to determine an exact cause of death.
Gagnon said investigators will review footage from the business's security cameras, but he's not sure if they'll find anything.
"This is a relatively secluded section of the parking lot compared to the rest of the area; It's near a large area of woods with tall trees. Other than this industrial business here, it's kind of set off the road a little bit from Lapeer Road," he said.
The Oakland County Sheriff's Office is assisting the investigation.
"There's still a lot of unanswered questions, but investigators are here trying to determine what happened," Gagnon said.
Anyone who may have witnessed this incident or saw the woman in the area is asked to contact the Auburn Hills Police Department at 248-370-9444.
