Woman's Battle With Cancer Results In Inspirational Book About Life
DETROIT (WWJ) - A grieving husband hopes a book about his wife's battle with pancreatic cancer helps others.
WWJ's Laura Bonnell reports that it's an inspirational book about living life to the fullest, despite a fatal diagnosis.
Sally Lake was a wife to Andy, and mother of six-year-old Shannon when she was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer - she was expected to live three months, but lived five years.
It's been two years since she lost her battle with cancer.
Anne Lewis is the author of Live, Love, Hope - The Sally Lake Story, she tells Lake's story in a book that includes her blog.
Lewis says that Sally decided in her journey that she would not wait for the tomorrows to find that balance between career goals and personal family goals, she decided to find it now and urges others to do the same.
"She was called the bringer of light, because she was always giving to others and even ... especially after she was diagnosed," said Lewis.
Even though Lake had great health insurance, she knew that she was fortunate, and that most people struggle to pay their health bills, so all the proceeds from the book will go to the Sally Lake Foundation and help others.
"She wanted the proceeds to go to families that are also suffering from serious illness," said Lewis.
