Woman Runs Over, Kills Rival In Apparent Argument Over Man
WESTLAND (WWJ) - A metro Detroit woman is dead and another is behind bars, after an apparent fight over a man.
Police say the incident started as an argument between a 26-year-old Westland woman and a 30-year-old Inkster woman, who were gathered at Manistee and Grand Traverse streets in Westland, near Palmer and South Venoy roads.
Witnesses told police the women were arguing over a man, and the argument quickly escalated. Police say at some point during the argument, the Inkster woman got into her car and chased down the Westland woman who was on foot, eventually hitting her and running her over.
After hitting the woman, police say the suspect took off. The Westland woman was rushed to Oakwood-Annapolis Hospital in Wayne where she died.
Police later found the suspect, rumored to be the new girlfriend of the victim's ex-boyfriend, in Livingston County and took her into custody. Charges are pending.
Police say witness statements indicate the entire incident played out in front of the Westland woman's children.
Identities of those involved were not immediately released. An investigation is ongoing.
