Woman Leaving Work Parking Lot Dies In Crash

AUBURN HILLS (WWJ) - A woman waiting to turn out of her work parking lot in Auburn Hills is dead after a SUV veered off the road and hit her car.

Auburn Hills police say the 59-year-old woman from Holly had left work just before 5 p.m. in her Chevrolet Impala and was waiting to turn onto Executive Hills Boulevard, near Opdyke Road, from the parking lot of her work.

While she was waiting for traffic to clear, police say a Chevy Avalanche traveling westbound on Executive Hills Boulevard drifted off the road and struck the woman's vehicle on the driver's side.

The woman, who has not been identified, was pronounced dead on the scene. The 65-year-old man who was driving the SUV was uninjured.

Investigators are trying to find out why the SUV drifted off the road, but don't think that alcohol is a factor.

Police are asking anyone who may have seen the crash to call Auburn Hills Police at 248-370-9444.
