Woman Killed Outside Of Broken Down Vehicle On M-14
SALEM TWP. (WWJ) - Michigan State Police say a motorist who was broken down on the side of a freeway near Ann Arbor was fatally struck by another vehicle.
The accident happened just after 7:30 p.m. Wednesday on westbound M-14 near Napier Road in Salem Township.
According to police, 76-year-old Natalie Tate, of Southfield, was trying to get help after her vehicle broke down on the freeway's right shoulder. Police say Tate crossed a dark section of freeway and was walking back to her car when she was struck and killed by an oncoming vehicle.
Tate was declared dead at the scene. The driver, a 56-year-old Adrian man, stopped after the accident and was interviewed by police.
Police said alcohol was not a factor and the driver was not found to be at fault.
