Woman Killed In Hit And Run Accident
FERNDALE (WWJ) - A hit and run accident in Ferndale has left one person dead.
Police say the accident happened around 7:30 p.m. Friday on 8 Mile Road between Pinecrest and Livernois.
Officers say a woman was walking southbound across 8 Mile, in what's described as a poorly-lit area, when she was hit by a car.
The 38-year-old Detroit woman, whose identity has not been released, was taken to a nearby hospital where she was later pronounced dead. The driver of the vehicle fled the scene.
Police say a preliminary investigation leads them to believe the driver is not at fault for the accident.
