Woman Jailed In 'Wild' Detroit Gas Station Shooting Faces Additional Charges

DETROIT (WWJ) - A 20-year-old Detroit woman accused of shooting a man multiple times in a wild scene that was caught on camera is facing additional charges for another incident that happened hours before the shooting.

Shamicah Burton, who is currently jailed on multiple charges including attempted murder, is due back in court on Monday where she'll be arraigned on additional charges of armed robbery, carrying a concealed weapon and felony firearm.

The charges stem from an incident that occurred around 6:10 p.m. on March 19. According to Wayne County prosecutors, two women were walking westbound on Fenkell Avenue when Burton apparently pulled out of a driveway and began driving in their direction. Burton allegedly approached the victims, got out of the vehicle armed with a handgun, threatened them and robbed them of their purses and other items, authorities said. She then fled the scene.

Hours later, at 4:30 a.m. on March 20, authorities say Burton was involved in a non-fatal shooting at the Mobil gas station on Fenkell and Greenfield roads. It's alleged that Burton went to the passenger side of the car she was in, grabbed a handgun and fired several shots at a man inside another car, wounding him.

After another man was able to wrestle the weapon away from her, she fled the scene, and the injured man was driven to a local hospital. A second man was hurt, police said, when he was struck by the wounded man's car.

High-definition security video of the incident went viral online — partially due to the unusual clothing Burton had on at the time of the crime — and helped police  to identify and arrest the suspect.

Burton remains held on a $500,000 cash/surety bond.
