Woman Jailed After Shooting, Standoff With Detroit Police
DETROIT (WWJ/AP) - A Detroit woman is jailed Thursday morning after an overnight standoff with police at a home on Sunnyside Street, near Telegraph and Fenkell.
Police say the 42-year-old woman, whose identity was not released, was taken into custody after reportedly shooting at an acquaintance and then refusing to leave the home.
Police say officers were called to the home about 7:15 p.m. Wednesday and took the woman into custody about 2 a.m. Thursday following hours of negotiations. She surrendered after police fired numerous rounds of tear gas into the house.
Police say the acquaintance, a 39-year-old man, wasn't hit by gunfire. Details of the case were expected to be submitted to prosecutors for review.
