Woman Found Dead Behind Thrift Store
PORT HURON TWP. (WWJ) - St. Clair County officials are turning to the public for help to identify a woman whose body was found behind a Goodwill store in Port Huron Township.
Sheriff's officials said the roughly 80-year-old woman was hidden for more than a week under snow and blankets before she was spotted in Tuesday by a worker who was cleaning the area.
Detectives reviewed surveillance video from the store and determined the woman's body had been outside since at least March 3.
The cause of her death is still unknown and investigators are working to determine how she ended up behind the store.
The woman is described as white, about 80 years old, about 5 feet tall and weighing about 100 to 110 pounds. She has grey, shoulder-length hair and dark eyes. She had a mastectomy and has two surgical scars on her stomach.
The woman was wearing an Indian-print type skirt and a black, white and red blouse.
Sheriff Tim Donnelan said they're still investigating, but it does not appear that she was a victim of foul play.
Anyone who might have any information that would identify this woman is asked to call St. Clair County Sheriff's Detective Eric Stevens at 810- 987-1726.
