Woman Fatally Shot In Royal Oak Home; Boyfriend Arrested
ROYAL OAK (WWJ) - A suspect is in custody after a 50-year-old woman was fatally shot in her Royal Oak home.
Theresa Diamos was found dead by police, early Monday morning — on N. Altadena Ave. between 11 and 12 Mile roads — after neighbors heard gunfire at around 3 a.m. and called 911.
"We responded to the 800-block of North Altadena. There was a female victim in the house; she's now deceased," said Police Chief Corrigan O'Donohue. "There was a male...resident, in the house also. Right now we're just trying to figure out what happened."
That male resident, later identified as the victim's live-in boyfriend, was arrested at the scene for illegal possession of a firearm. He's a convicted felon, according to police.
Police aren't talking about a possible motive for the killing, but said that they do not believe there is any danger to the public. They said the boyfriend, whose name has not been released is not cooperating with investigators.
Neighbors talking to WWJ's Charlie Langton said they heard arguing prior to the shooting.
"People that know her think it was because of money problems," neighbor Charlene Ludwick said.
Anyone who witnessed the shooting or may have any information about this crime is asked to call Royal Oak Police Sgt. Don Swiatkowski at 248-246-3528.
This is thought to be Royal Oak's first murder of 2015.
