Woman Charged With Murder, Arson In Grandmother's Death
A woman has been charged in the death of her grandmother in a house fire on Detroit's west side.
The 49-year-old Stacey Anderson has been charged with deliberately setting her 88-year-old grandmother's house on fire last month because her grandmother, Leena Green, denied her access to the home.
Green died while two others were injured. Anderson has been charged with murder, two counts of assault with intent to murder and arson.
Wayne County prosecutor Kym Worthy says elder abuse is escalating at a very disturbing rate in this country.
Anderson was expected to be arraigned Friday in Detroit's 36th District Court. Prosecutors and police were not aware if she had an attorney.
