Woman Charged In Livonia Murder
A North Carolina woman is facing a murder charge in connection with the shooting death of an Ypsilanti woman in Livonia last Thursday.
The Wayne County Prosecutor's office charged 56-year old Julie Ann Hopwood with first degree murder and felony firarm in the shooting of 35-year old Amy Chesbro.
The shooting occurred Thursday at 8:30 a.m. outside at a business on Victor Parkway near Eight Mile where Chesbro worked.
Chesbro was shot five times and witnesses reported seeing the shooter run away and flee in a car. Officers stopped the vehicle a short time later.
Police investigators say Chesbro and Hopwood knew each other, but a motive hasn't been determined.
Hopwood was expected to be arraigned Sunday. If convicted she faces life in prison.
