Woman, 2 Men Shot To Death In Detroit Home

DETROIT (WWJ/AP) - Three people have been shot to death and a fourth wounded at an eastside Detroit home.

According to Detroit Police, the people killed Wednesday afternoon were a 60-year-old woman, a 60-year-old man and a 20-year-old man. No age was given on the wounded man.

The shootings come one day after police announced arrests in a string of homicides committed over a 24-hour span last month. Seven people were shot to death and nine wounded Aug. 12-13. Arrests have been made in six of the slayings and a warrant issued for a suspect in the seventh.

Detroit Police Chief Ralph Godbee said the department is having some success fighting crime by putting more officers on the street and going to 12 hour shifts.

Homicides in Detroit are up more than 27 percent over the same period last year. As of Aug. 28, 238 people had been killed in the city, compared with 194 in 2010.
