Wolverines Fall To Hawkeyes 75-59
IOWA (WWJ) - Trey Burke scored a team high 19 but it was not enough as the No. 13 Michigan Wolverines fall to the Iowa Hawkeyes 75-59 on Saturday at the Carver-Hawkeye Arena.
As heard on WWJ Newsradio 950 - the Wolverines (14-4) could not gain offensive momentum against the (11-8) Iowa team and never could sustain the lead the few times they had it.
Zack Novak scored 14 points and had 8 rebounds - Tim Hardaway and Stu Douglas each had 9 pts.
"It was tough when Trey (Burke) got in foul trouble - as a result we were in a transition game all day today," said Wolverine head coach John Beilein.
Michigan shot just 38% on the day - hitting 20 of 52 field goal attempts.
"The shot clock does not determine the shot ... we couldn't sustain any lead - we had eight turnovers in the game," said Beilein. "We've just got to keep working and working - we haven't had to comeback in too many games - we didn't do that well."
Matt Gatens scored 19 pts. followed by Roy Devyn Marble 13 pts. for the Iowa in the Hawkeye win.
The Wolverines host the Michigan State Spartans on Tuesday night - hear all the action on WWJ Newsradio at 6:30 p.m.
