Witness Intimidation In Hamtramck Double Murder Case
ROMULUS (WWJ/AP) - A 20-year-old Detroit man faces witness intimidation and obstruction of justice charges in connection with the prosecution of five men charged in a double-murder.
Glenn Hunter was arraigned Tuesday in Romulus.
Prosecutors said a witness was intimidated April 18 in Romulus, the night before a preliminary examination for the men charged in the slayings of 18-year-old Abreeya Brown and 22-year-old Ashley Conaway.
Hunter was not represented Tuesday by an attorney. He was ordered held on a $500,000 bond. A hearing is May 2.
Close friends Brown and Conaway were allegedly forced into a car trunk at gunpoint on Feb. 28 after being abducted from their home in Hamtramck. Their bodies were found almost a month later in shallow graves in a wooded area near 6 Mile Road and Telegraph in Detroit.
Police believe the young women were themselves witnessed to a separate shooting, and killed when they wouldn't keep quiet.
The case against the men charged in their deaths continues. They were expected back in court later this week.
