Winter Weather Businesses Waiting For A Measurable Snowfall
DETROIT (WWJ) - The lack of snow and cold temperatures has many people feeling that we are dodging harsh winter weather, but WWJ's Ron Dewey says the lack of snow has some businesses feeling blue.
It's not just the ski slopes feeling the pain of no snow, it's also the plow drivers like Jerome Powell of Powell and Sons Landscaping and Snow Removal ... like any other business during a down time, he's had to cut back.
"When we need people we call them, obviously there is not much out here to do - so you can't keep people on the payroll if you don't have the work for them," said Powell.
Powell says that he usually has 16 employees plowing, shoveling and salting the snow away by now. But with the milder-than-normal season, only three people are on payroll.
The return of cold weather means he can at least salt his client's parking lots, but Powell will hope for more of the white stuff to make some green.
