Winter Makes A Comeback In Metro Detroit
DETROIT (WWJ) - Spring was put on hold by Monday's weather, with plants at local greeneries buried in the snow.
John Steinkopf, of Steinkopf's Nursery in Farmington Hills said it's only a minor setback.
"The weather that we had this winter ... to me, it seemed like forever. I think (there is some) pent up demand. Like me, I want to get outside and do something. You know, we're only had a few days when we could do that so far," he said.
"The funny thing is... I held off from getting a lot of stuff in just because of this reason. So, I've got like eight trucks rolling in this week," Steinkopf said.
Roads were wet, slick, and snow-covered in spots, during the morning commute. Road crews are out across Metro Detroit early in the morning, putting down salt.
A Winter Weather Advisory ended at noon.
In Oakland County, officials said most of the roads were just wet, although there's been a little bit of snow accumulation on some shoulders.
Weather spotters said 1.7 inches of snow was on the ground in Farmington. In Howell, 1.3 inches was reported. One inch was reported in Livonia and Ann Arbor.
AccuWeather's Devore said most of the snow accumulation would be on grassy surfaces.

WWJ spoke with Oak Park's Rocky Hanna, watching the snow fall on his car on way to work along I- 696. Hanna said seeing snow this time of year is always eye-catching, but not that unexpected.
"It's not surprising to me... but this is Michigan! Spring is here, you know, and it should be warmer temperatures," he said.
WWJ's Ron Dewey spoke with another woman, who recently moved from Georgia to Michigan.
"It's been different, but y'all have, you know, the snow plows and all of that so you're prepared," she said, adding that snow in April was a new experience for her -- although she'd been warned.
"They kept telling me not to get too excited when we had the nice Sunday that was so pretty and the weather was nice, and they said it wouldn't last. So, they were right," she said.
Forecasters said the snowfall would wrap up before Monday afternoon, when temperatures will warm up to the low 40's.

Monday - Mostly cloudy. Snow ending around noon. Accumulations 2 to 4 inches. Highs 38 to 42. Northeast winds 5 to 10 mph, turning to east.
Monday Night - Mostly cloudy early, then becoming partly cloudy...eventually becoming mostly cloudy. Rain likely with a chance of freezing rain and snow after 2 am. Lows 31 to 35. Northeast winds 5 to 15 mph.
Tuesday - Cloudy. Rain showers likely during the morning...then rain showers with a chance of thunderstorms. Highs 41 to 45. Northeast winds 10 to 20 mph, turning to east. Rain with a chance of thunderstorms at night. Lows 41 to 45.
Wednesday - Mostly cloudy and windy. Showers likely with a chance of thunderstorms through early afternoon, then scattered showers. Highs 60 to 64. A chance of snow showers during the evening. Lows 32 to 36.
Thursday - Mostly sunny. Highs 48 to 52. Lows 34 to 38.
Friday - Mostly cloudy. A chance of showers. Highs 51 to 55. Lows 41 to 45.
