Winter Blast To Return In 2011
The Motown Winter Blast is returning in 2011. The 7th annual festival will come to Campus Martius Park the weekend of February 11th -- featuring fun, seasonal events that celebrated all things Detroit.
WWJ Newsradio 950 caught up with festival director, Jon Witz who talked about what attendees can expect at this year's event.
"So exciting to bring it back. On the weekend you can skate for free at Campus Martius park, the spectacular ice sculptures, the music, the snow-makers making snow for snowshoeing and dog sledding and the great musicians, the marshmallow roasting, it's gonna be great," Witz said.
Three stages will host 50 local music acts -- with the performers to be announced next month.
Motown Winter Blast was originally developed to create an innovative backdrop for Super Bowl XL -- the first-time event attracted more than 200,000 people to Campus Martius. The 2nd annual event attracted nearly 1 million guests.
