Wings 4, Sharks 3
SAN JOSE, Calif. (WWJ/AP) - Not ready to hang up the skates, the Red Wings come from behind to beat the San Jose Sharks 4-3, on Sunday night.
As heard on 97.1 The Ticket post game, Detroit coach Mike Babcock commented on the tenacity of the Wings down 3-1 in the third period: "...it's about digging in... down 3-1 you're thinking, 'This is going to be tough' but we responded both times, we just hung around."
Tomas Holmstrom broke a tie with 6:08 remaining, and the Detroit Red Wings had three third-period goals to avoid elimination.
Danny Cleary and Jonathan Ericsson also scored in the final period to send the series back to Detroit for Game 6 on Tuesday night. After winning the first three games, San Jose is clinging to a 3-2 lead in the best-of-seven series.
Logan Couture, Joe Pavelski and Devin Setoguchi scored to help the Sharks take a 3-1 lead early in the third period. Then the Red Wings scored two quick goals before Holmstrom's redirected the winner past Antti Niemi.
Jimmy Howard made 39 saves for Detroit.
The Wings have won two in a row and have a chance to tie up the series against San Jose on Tuesday in Game 6 in Hockeytown.
