Wings 3, Sharks 1
DETROIT (WWJ/AP) - The Detroit Red Wings capture Game 6 to tie the best of seven series with a 3-1 win over the Sharks on Tuesday night.
As heard post game on 97.1 The Ticket- "We believe in each other and we stuck to the game plan," says Niklas Kronwall.
Asked about sending the series into a Game 7 after being down 3-0 to the Sharks, Kronwall says: "Of course, we've got to be feeling good about ourselves, but we haven't accomplished anything yet."
The game was scoreless going into the third period, but the Detroit Red Wings' Henrik Zetterberg and Valtteri Filppula scored less than two minutes apart in the third period.
"...not very often a team gets to come back from that (down 3 -0 in a series) we've been in all the games except the first one," says Zetterberg post game on 97.1 The Ticket.
San Jose must defend home ice Thursday night to avoid becoming the fourth NHL team to lose a best-of-seven series after leading 3-0. San Jose's Logan Couture scored early in the third period, but Zetterberg tied it with 9:22 remaining, and Filppula scored the winner with 7:28 left.
Darren Helm added an empty-net goal. Every other game in the series was decided by one goal.
Detroit scored the last three goals of Game 5 to win 4-3.
"It's just a lot of fun," says Wings goalie Jimmy Howard. "It's what you dream about."
