Windy, Wintry Weather Across Southeast Michigan
SOUTHFIELD (WWJ) - The new year is off to a windy, wintry start across Southeast Michigan. Snow is coming down in spots and there is black ice in spots on some roads.
WWJ's Ron Dewey reports the saving grace is there's not the normal going-to-work traffic loads because it's a holiday. But for everyone else, it's necessary to get re-acclimated to winter survival driving conditions, although he is seeing varying conditions at the same time.
In parts of northern Macomb County, there is black ice and slippery roads. Not as much in central Macomb County. Around Southfield, the Lodge Freeway is dry as a bone. Once you hit the Southfield Freeway, however, you better slap on the skis because it is snow covered and slippery.
It's going to be that kind of a day and the winds are going to keep the roads icy. So, Dewey says, drivers should just take their time on the roads and keep the radio on WWJ Newsradio 950 for the latest traffic and weather conditions every 10 minutes on the 8s. And, of course, up-to-date traffic and weather conditions are available around the clock anytime on CBS Detroit.com.
