Windsor Recycling Plant Fire Under Investigation
WINDSOR (WWJ) - Fire officials in Windsor are not yet sure what caused the fire that sent thick black smoke into the air and drew attention from as far away as Southfield.
The fire broke out about 3 p.m. Tuesday at Sprucewood Industries -- a plastics recycling plant.
The fire forced a state of emergency for a large part of Windsor.
Plumes of smoke blew over the Detroit River. One man, calling from the area of Fort Street and Outer Drive, said it looked like "the whole town of Windsor" was burning down.
Officials said Thursday that air monitors show the air is now clear.
No one was hurt.
