Will Michigan Tourism Take A Hit Due To Gas Prices?
DETROIT (WWJ) - Going into the summer driving season there are predictions of a 4% hike in tourism spending this year. Will the high cost of gas mean disaster for the Michigan tourism industry?
The AAA's Nancy Cain says the price at the pump effects the cost of goods and services.
"You drive for a living like floral delivers or postal workers, everybody is impacted by higher gas prices. Really we all pay for it, you know the price of services, we've seen some upticks in some of the industries that are charging more of the fee, because they are paying significantly more for gasoline," says Cain.
But Cain says if prices don't take a dramatic spike, it shouldn't hurt tourism too much.
