Wild Mushroom Soup Sold At Whole Foods Recalled
DETROIT (CBS Detroit) - Mushroom soup sold at Whole Foods Markets in Michigan and five other states has been recalled due to an undeclared allergen.
Illinois-based Brett Anthony Foods is recalling 109, 24 oz. cups of Wild Mushroom Soup because it may contain chestnuts, which are not listed on the product label.
According to the notice appearing Tuesday on the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) website, people who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to chestnuts run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products which were sold at Whole Foods in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Missouri, Minnesota and Nebraska.
No illnesses have been reported so far in connection with the soup.
The Wild Mushroom Soup that's included in this recall is packaged in a plastic 24 oz. cup labeled "Whole Foods Market, Wild Mushroom Soup" with the expiration date 112115, located on the bottom of the cups.
Whole Foods says the labeling problem was discovered by a Whole Foods team member.
Consumers who have purchased the Wild Mushroom Soup are urged to return it to the store where they bought it for a full refund. Consumers with questions may contact the company at 847-272-4309 during regular business hours.
