Wife Charged In Husband's Death Freed On Bond
The Farmington Hills woman charged in the mysterious death of her husband is free on her own recognizance.
Laura Johnson was released from the Oakland County Jail late Monday -- hours after the funeral for her husband, Lloyd Johnson.
She was asked by Channel Four if she was upset about not being there. "Of course," she told the station. "I cried about it all day, but ... they probably would have made it difficult for me ... so it's probably best that I was where I was; I was safe," she added.
Meanwhile, Oakland County Prosecutor Jessica Cooper says she's confident they'll still get a conviction in the case -- and that the forensic evidence will support their theory beyond a reasonable doubt.
But local criminal attorney Ray Cassar says that won't be easy.
"That's what this case is all about, medical evidence," Cassar told WWJ Newsradio 950. "Remember, second-degree doesn't necessarily mean she intended to kill him. It's just as a result of her actions, he died. Now, the question is are they gonna be able to show that it was ... a result of her actions. I think it's gonna be a tough case," Cassar said.
