White Sox 5, Tigers 1
CHICAGO (WWJ/AP) - Brennan Boesch delivered the only power at the plate and the Detroit Tigers fall to the Chicago White Sox 5-1 on Saturday.
As heard on 97.1 The Ticket - Boesch hit a solo home run in the eighth inning to put Detroit on the board but still behind by three runs.
Starting pitcher Adam Wilk who was just recalled from Triple-A Toledo to make his first major league start --was hit by a foul ball off the bat of Prince Fielder while sitting in the dugout in the sixth inning. Wilk was struck in the left shoulder.
Wilk pitched five innings giving up three hits and allowed two runs before leaving the game - Wilk takes the loss.
Chicago cashed in on solo homers from Alexei Ramirez, Tyler Flowers off of Wilk and a homer off of Daniel Schlereth by Paul Konerko.
Gavin Floyd gets the win - pitching six shutout innings against the Tigers, while striking out six.
The Tigers fall to 5-3 and the White Sox 5-2 move into first place in the AL Central.
