What Makes You Tune Into The Big Game? Football, Commercials Or Entertainment?
DETROIT (WWJ) - Super Bowl Sunday ... do you watch the game purely for the action between the Denver Broncos and the Seattle Seahawks, or is it the commercials, or perhaps the half-time show?
Eight million dollars a minute. That's how much the Super Bowl commercials cost in the big game pitting the Broncos against the Seahawks.
University of Detroit-Mercy Mike Bernacchi says there are a lot of celebrity commercials this year.
"Schwarzenegger, remarkable. He's been teasing a Bud Light ad. Danica Patrick's back, but not in the same kind of role that we've used to see her. David Beckham is there for H & M," said Bernacchi.
Bernacchi says most commercials are for food and drink, but auto companies are the second pre-eminent category.
"Ads also do well that come from contests. Dorito's has another contest. They've done exceptionally well. They won the ad meter last year and certainly, with a contest ad, they should do well."
