Westland Teen Hit By Car

A 17-year-old young man from Westland was air-lifted to the University of Michigan Hospital Friday morning after being hit by a car. Westland police said it happened in front of Westland mall near Wayne and Warren.

Witnesses told police the boy appeared to be distracted.

WWJ spoke with Rochelle Patino works at the Panera Bread nearby.

"We tried to do everything that we could. We kept him laying down, kept him still, talked to him the whole time. [We] told him it's going to be okay and help is on the way," Patino said.

Witnesses said the driver of the car that hit the young man did stop and offered to help.

Late Friday morning, the teen's condition was unknown.
