Westland Man Sentenced To Life Without Parole In Murder Of Girlfriend Found Entombed In Drum
MOUNT CLEMENS (WWJ) - A Westland man has been sentenced to life in prison without parole in the slaying of his girlfriend whose body was found concealed in a plastic drum.
Scott Wobbe, 38, last month pleaded no contest to first-degree premeditated murder and mutilation of a body.
Theresa DeKeyzer, 22, of Warren, was missing for weeks last year until her decomposed body in September, her decomposed body entombed in cement inside a 55-gallon drum that was bolted to the floor of a utility trailer at a Plymouth Township storage facility.
DeKeyzer had filed a domestic violence complaint against Wobbe before she was killed, but Wobbe's attorney argued there still wasn't any evidence that he'd intended to kill her.
Officials at the Wayne County Medical Examiner's Office stressed in earlier proceedings that obvious measures were taken to cover up evidence in DeKeyzer's death. It took a team more than four hours to free her remains from the drum.
About 50 people who knew DeKeyzer were at the Macomb County courthouse for sentencing on Tuesday, many wearing matching purple #JusticeForTheresa t-shirts in a show of support.
