Westland Dad Pleads In Beating Death Of 3-Month-Old Son
DETROIT (WWJ/AP) - A Westland man has pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in the beating death of his 3-month-old son.
Joshua Wilson entered his plea Friday in Wayne County Circuit Court in Detroit. He's due back in court for sentencing on April 23.
The boy, Joshua Jr., died in December. Police said he had been severely beaten, with bruises from head to toe and broken bones. He reportedly died from blunt force trauma to the chest.
The child's mother, Kelli Worth-McBride, is also charged in the case. She's seeking a competency referral in the case, and is due back in court on charges of felony murder and first-degree child abuse on July 8.
Family members say both parents are mentally ill and that Child Protective Services have been involved since the baby was born, according to reports.
