West Bloomfield Schools Closed Again After Bus Vandalism
WEST BLOOMFIELD (WWJ) - West Bloomfield Schools were forced to shut down Wednesday, after vandals hit the bus yard for the second time in recent months.
The district's transportation office told WWJ Newsradio 950 that three suspects were caught on video climbing over the fence and pulling fuses and wires from 18 buses.
As a result, there were not enough buses to transport the district's 6,800 students, so school was called off.
Detectives say they have a couple of suspects in mind, but nobody has been arrested.
On Jan. 30, vandals flattened tires and yanked wires out of several buses parked at the district's transportation yard in Orchard Lake. At the time, security video showed the suspects and at least one had a ponytail, but the video was too grainy to identify them. No arrests have been made.
It's unclear if these cases are related.
School officials say a new security system which was ordered after the January incident hasn't been installed yet.
