Weekend Road Work
There will be plenty of orange barrels to avoid this weekend as you drive around town.
The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) says eastbound I-96 will be closed from I-275 to Telegraph from Friday night until 5 a.m. Monday. The detour will take drivers onto I-696, the Lodge Freeway (M-10) and the Southfield Freeway, M-39.
Drivers can also use Six Mile Road, or Ford Road to Telegraph.
Drivers on I-75 in Oakland County could also run into slowdowns.
MDOT says beginning at 10 p.m. on Friday and ending by 5 a.m. on Monday, the two left lanes of southbound I-75 will be closed from Giddings to Squirrel roads for resurfacing. The two right lanes of northbound I-75 will be closed from Squirrel to Giddings roads from early Saturday until Monday morning.
Near Ann Arbor, delays are expected along U.S. 23 as crews block a lane between Washtenaw and Bemis roads.
Here are other weekend projects that could slow your drive:
i-94:
In Macomb County, beginning at 9 p.m. on Friday and ending at 5 a.m on Sunday, eastbound I-94 ramp to westbound I-696 will be closed for ongoing construction. Traffic should use the eastbound I-94 exit to 8 Mile, then follow Gratiot back to I-696.
In Macomb County, beginning at 9 p.m. on Saturday and ending at 9 a.m. on Sunday, westbound I-94 ramp to westbound I-696 will be closed for ongoing construction. Traffic should use the eastbound I-94 exit to 8 Mile, then follow Gratiot back to I-696.
In Macomb County, beginning at 5 a.m. on Friday and ending on August 20th, the eastbound I-94 entrance and exit ramps at 10 Mile will be closed.
In Wayne County, beginning at 6 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Saturday, the Linwood entrance to eastbound I-94 will be closed for maintenance.
In St. Clair County, beginning at 12:30 p.m. today and ending at 1 p.m. on Saturday, the left lane will be closed on westbound I-94 at Lapeer road for bridge maintenance.
I-75:
In Wayne County, beginning at 7 p.m. on Friday and ending at noon on Saturday, the Caniff entrance ramp to northbound I-75 will be closed for maintenance.
In Oakland County, beginning at 9 p.m. on Friday and ending by 9 a.m. on Saturday, the two right lanes of southbound I-75 will be closed from Rochester to Maple roads for pavement repair.
In Oakland County, beginning at 9 p.m. on Saturday and ending by 9 a.m. on Sunday, the two left lanes of southbound I-75 will be closed from Rochester to Maple roads.
I-96/I-696 interchange:
In Oakland County, eastbound I-96 connector to I-696 will be closed beginning at 7 p.m. on Friday and ending at 5 a.m. on Sunday. Traffic is directed to take eastbound M-5 to join eastbound I-696.
In Macomb County, the westbound M-59 service drive will have the left lanes closed between Merrill and Mound roads. The lane restrictions begin at 5 a.m. and end by 4 p.m. on Saturday.
In Macomb County, the westbound I-696 service drive will have the left lane closed between Milton and Dequindre roads. The lane restriction begins 5 a.m. today and ends by 5 a.m. on Monday.
M-102 (8 Mile):
In Detroit, beginning at 7 a.m. and ending at noon on Saturday, westbound 8 Mile over M-10 will have a rolling right lane closure for lighting.
M-153 (Ford Road):
In Wayne County, during the overnight hours (9 p.m. - 8 a.m) on Saturday and Sunday, intermittent lane closures on eastbound and westbound Ford Road between Haggerty and Newburgh roads in Westland. The lane restrictions are needed for resurfacing.
M-3 (Gratiot Avenue):
In Macomb County, southbound M-3 will have the right and right center lanes closed for resurfacing from 7 p.m. on Friday and ending by 5 a.m. on Monday.
Some of this work maybe postponed due to adverse weather or any unforeseen circumstances.
