Website Protects Donors From Fraudulent Charities
LANSING (WWJ) - Criminals have long used phony charity organizations to steam money from well-meaning people. Now, the State Attorney General has come up with a way to make it easier to give to those organizations who deserve it.
Website Launches To Protect Consumers From Fradulent Charities
This past week, Attorney General Bill Schuette announced the launch of a new website that provides the public with information about charities and those that solicit donations.
The website is called "AG Charity Search" and keeps track of the annual registration status of charities. The site will allow visitors to see the charitable purpose, financial data, tax exemption status and contact information for the organization.

If you have any questions about an organization or professional fundraiser that does not appear on the website, please contact the Attorney General's Charitable Trust Section at (517) 373-1152.
