Wayne Man Charged In 4 TCF Bank Robberies, 3 At Same Branch

TROY (WWJ) - Police have arrested a 45-year-old man who they say is responsible for at least four bank robberies — three of them at the same TCF branch in Troy.

Gary Peter Goff of Wayne was taken into custody at around noon on Monday, shortly after he allegedly robbed the TCF Bank at 2484 Coolidge Highway.

According to Troy police, Goff had previously robbed the same bank two times, on April 16 and Oct. 26 of last year, along with another TFC branch, at 2138 E. Big Beaver Road, on Sept. 10, 2015.

After the April crime, the FBI put up a $2,500 reward for information leading to the suspect's arrest.

A weapon was implied but not seen in any of the cases, according to police. No one was injured.

In a news release, Troy police thanked multiple law enforcement agencies for their help on the case, including the Clawson Police Department; the Troy Special Investigations Unit, which consists of officers from Auburn Hills Police Department, Birmingham Police Department, Bloomfield Township Police Department, the Royal Oak Police Department; and the FBI Oakland County Gangs and Violent Crimes Task Force.

Goff was arraigned in 52-4 District Court Wednesday on four counts of bank robbery.

Police say he continues to be investigated in connection with bank robberies in other communities.
