Wayne County Treasurer's Office Begins Online Tax-Defaulted Property Sales
DETROIT (WWJ) -- In one of the largest sales of its kind, the Wayne County Treasurer has announced the opening of its annual online tax-defaulted property auction website.
Interested parties must be registered to bid. Registration is open through Sept. 13 at www.wayne.realforeclose.com. The auction will feature more than 20,000 residential and commercial properties and vacant lots.
"Funds collected from the auction will support mandated services including police and fire protection and schools for our children," Wayne County Treasurer Raymond Wojtowicz said. "The auction process is accessible to everyone who wants to participate. It is our hope Michigan residents will buy properties, refurbish dwellings to improve and stabilize neighborhoods and return properties to the tax rolls making a positive impact in the county, the region and the state."
The website vendor, Plantation, Fla.-based Realauction.com LLC, will conduct online training and orientation sessions for bidders, with complete instructions on how to participate in the online property sales. Realauction also provides a toll-free number to their customer service team to answer questions during the sales.
Once bidders have registered online, they must remit the required deposit by Sept. 13 at 5 p.m., from which their successful bids will be taken.
Said Lloyd McClendon, CEO of Realauction: "The website is very simple to use, so that even a novice investor or computer user can be up and running in just a few minutes, and bid from the comfort of their homes or offices."
Online training is available for bidders by webinar. To register for training, contact Realauction customer service at (877) 361-7325 or customerservice@realauction.com.
