Waterlogged Roads Causing Flooding Problems

DETROIT (WWJ) - Waterlogged roads once again causing big flooding problems for Friday morning drivers. This, following Thursday's a.m. commute that was just as wet.

According to WWJ's Mike Campbell, who is navigating the roads, there are no known road closures as of yet, but with rain - some of it heavy overnight - and parts of the area already swamped, the usual and sometimes unusual spots are going to be a problem again.

I-94 at Chalmers was closed Thursday due to flooding, although a spokesman for M-DOT says that was more likely caused by a failure of power at the pump to move the water off the freeway, than by the volume of water itself. So, maybe that area won't be a problem for Friday drivers. However, Dixie Highway in Clarkston and Telegraph in Waterford are both presenting problems for commuters.

The weather is also being blamed for power outages. DTE Energy says as of Friday morning, they're up to about 10,000 scattered outages; that's up from 6,000 overnight.
