Waterford Man Ticketed For Having Marijuana, Pit Bulls, Alligator
WATERFORD (WWJ) - A 28-year-old Waterford man was ticketed earlier this week for participating in an array of illegal activities.
Waterford Police Chief Dan McCaw said officers responded to a residence in the area of West End and Boston avenues after receiving reports that an alligator was being kept in the basement of the home.
McCaw said arriving officers found the residence unlocked with the front door standing open, but were unable to make contact with anyone inside the residence.
While checking the interior of residence, McCaw said officers located a two-and-a-half foot alligator in a wooden crate in the basement. He said they also located four pit bulls and 24 marijuana plants growing in the basement.
A roommate of the homeowner arrived at the residence and was able to make contact with the homeowner, who also arrived at the residence a short time later, said McCaw. Officers spoke with the homeowner, who admitted the alligator, pit bulls and marijuana were his.
The suspect, who was not named, was issued citations for possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of pit bulls and possession of prohibited exotic, rare or dangerous animals. He was released at the scene.
Oakland County Animal Control Officers removed the alligator and pit bulls from the residence.
