Water Service Restored After Brief Shutoff In Redford, Northwest Detroit
REDFORD TWP. (WWJ) - Officials say water service has been restored to residents in Redford Township and northwest Detroit after a brief shutdown.
Calls started coming into the WWJ Newsroom around 8 a.m. Saturday from multiple residents in Redford Township and Detroit's Brightmoor neighborhood, who complained that they weren't getting any water in their homes.
John Roach, a spokesman for Mayor Mike Duggan, said a DTE Energy transformer went down, causing the problem at the water department. Roach said crews switched over to another transformer to get the water flowing again while repairs were made.
The shutdown lasted for a couple of hours. Service has since been restored.
