Water Main Break Along Northwestern Hwy
SOUTHFIELD (WWJ) - A know-before-you-go traffic alert... a water main break along the Northwestern Highway service drive possibly causing some delays during the morning commute.
There's a lot of heavy machinery on the southbound Lodge service drive at Ten Mile and Evergreen where crews are working on a 16-inch water main break. At one point, water flooded the roadway but the drains have now been cleared.
Crews at the scene say there is a hole about 12 feet deep at the driveway of the Speedway gas station where the water main break occurred. They say it could collapse, so the area has been blocked off. Also, water has been shut off to the gas station, which may effect some of the services offered.
The water main repairs are expected to take about five hours to complete. One lane of traffic is open, however, as crews work to repair the water main.
