Water For Elephants
BIRMINGHAM (WWJ) – Water for Elephants is magnificent! In fact, it is one of the finest films I've seen this year, and trust me, I've seen a lot.
Water for Elephants is based on Sara Gruen's New York Times bestselling novel. It tells the story of veterinary student Jacob Jankowski and Marlena, a star circus performer in The Benzini Brothers Circus.
Academy Award winning actress Reese Witherspoon stars as Marlena; Twilight star Robert Pattinson stars as Jacob Jankowski; and Christoph Waltz portrays August, Marlena's husband and the owner of the circus. Academy Award nominee and five-time Emmy Award winner Hal Holbrook portrays "old Jacob."
Water for Elephants takes place in the 1930s. Jacob is preparing to graduate from Cornell University when, following a tragic accident, his entire world changes. So, after years of living a comfortable life, studying and preparing himself to become a veterinarian, Jacob suddenly finds himself on the street with nowhere to go. Then, as fate would have it, he intuitively jumps aboard a passing train, which turns out to be the home of The Benzini Brothers Circus.
After "joining" the circus, Jacob finds himself becoming intertwined with the beautiful Marlena and the complicated and imposing August. And once he does, his life is never the same.
Go see Water for Elephants. You won't be disappointed.
