Warren Grandmother Dies After Being Run Over By Own SUV
WAREEN (WWJ) - Authorities say a 68-year-old Warren woman has died after being accidentally run over by her own SUV while her 6-year-old grandchild was inside the vehicle.
The incident happened around 3:20 p.m. Tuesday in the 5500 block of Streefkerk, in a neighborhood just south of 14 Mile and Mound roads.
Police say the woman had pulled into her driveway after returning home and got out of the vehicle while the transmission was in reverse. The vehicle packed over the woman, pulling her under the wheels.
Witnesses rushed to her assistance and called 911. She was rushed to Royal Oak Beaumont Hospital, where she died of head injuries.
The grandchild, who was in the back seat, was not injured.
The woman's name has not yet been released.
