Warrant Request Submitted In Bianca Jones Case
DETROIT (WWJ) - According to Detroit police, the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office has received a warrant request in connection with the disappearance of Bianca Jones, 2 of Detroit.
The warrant request is being reviewed, per officers, who noted there will not be any decision made this week. Police are not saying who is named as the suspect in the warrant request.
"As was indicated in an earlier release, the Detroit Police Department has submitted a warrant request to the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office regarding the Bianca Jones investigation. The investigation is still ongoing and as such the Detroit Police has no further comment relative to the warrant submission or the investigation," Detroit Police Chief Ralph Godbee Jr. said in a statement.
The warrant request comes in the wake of a week-long hunt for Jones in the area where she was last seen. Her father, Deandre Lane, who says he was in the vehicle when it was carjacked, pleaded with volunteers to keep looking.
Lane failed a lie detector in the disappearance, his attorney Terry Johnson admitted, adding that Lane was under extreme stress at the time.
Cadaver dogs brought in this week to continue the search for Jones allegedly hit on the scent of human remains in several spots linked to the toddler.
